These days awards and prizes abound for what their judges consider to be the best new children's books. Each fortnight inspiringyourkids.com is running a competition giving visitors to the site the chance to win their pick of the current crop of shortlisted and winning books for kids highlighted by some of the leading awards.
Our last competition was won by Anita Gracey from Belfast who correctly answered the question we set by identifying the name of the the current Children's Laureate as that of Michael Rosen who serves for a two year period. Well done Anita.
This time again we're offering our competition winner their choice from the shortlist of the 2007 Guardian Children's Fiction prize while in the coming weeks you'll have the chance to bag a book from the shortlists from the likes of the Aventis Junior Science Book Of The Year; the Nestle Children's Book Prize; the Red House Children's Book Of The Year Award; the Carnegie Medal; the Costa Children's Book Of The Year and the W H Smith Children's Book Of The Year.

Children's Books Shortlisted For The 2007 Guardian Children's Fiction Prize
The winner, which was announced recently, was Jenny Valentine's debut novel 'Finding Violet Park' from amongst the eight strong shortlist. The judging panel comprising three children's authors were Philip Reeve, winner of the Prize last year with 'The Darkling Plain', Linda Newbery, this year's winner of the Costa Children's Book Of The Year with 'Set In Stone', and the creator of the Montmorency novels Elanor Updale.
